I love this photo of Notre Dame. The view is from the back of the church in the rose garden. I was amazed by the sheer size of the church and the beauty of the facades.
Some street art:
Parisians must go to the grocery store more often than we do, because their shopping carts are small. This is probably because the stores are so close to where people live and everyone walks everywhere. This is a picture of a shopping cart. It shows how little room the carts take up in the store. The basket comes off and everything stacks. I loved looking at new, odd brands and trying new foods. I LOVED the cheese in Paris. I loved the breads too!
On day 3 after touring Notre Dame, and walking down the Rue de Rivoli, I came back to my apartment to rest and then went on a walk around the neighborhood. Here are a few things I saw:

The flea markets in Paris were great. After arriving and getting acclimated on Saturday,I walked around my arty, funky Montemarte neighborhood. There was always something going on at the base of Sacre Coeur, tons of shops and boulangeries (bakeries). Sunday I went to 2 flea markets, Vanues (south) and Clingancourt (north). The 2 fleas were polar opposites, Vanues was small & cheaper and Clingancourt was vast & expensive. I did find a few affordable goodies for myself and my Etsy shop at both. After coming back to my apartment, I went out exploring and found a flea/garage sale spread out in the median of the main street in Montemarte. I found a cute little jewelry box with a mother of pearl necklace and a designer scarf.
Monday was spent touring Notre Dame, the Isle St Louis and a few neighboring districts.

I spent the last 2 weeks in Paris and had a WONDERFUL time. I stayed in an apartment in Montemarte and the photo above is from my apartment window. What a view! The church is Sacre-Coeur Basilica, a church high on the hills of Montemarte. Also pictured below are some photos of the apartment and my trip to Vanues to go flea marketing. I will post new photos each day this week!

These iris plants are from my grandfather's garden. I brought a shoot home from Pennsylvania many years ago and they have divided and grown over the years. I smile every May when they bloom back to life because I remember my grandparents. They were exceptional people and I miss them so much. I wish I could go back in time and spend one more day with them!

I LOVE May. The weather gets a little warmer, the end of school draws near, (not that I care anymore) and the Lilac tree in front of my house blooms and SMELLS heavenly. Then there is Mothers Day and my birthday! This year I can add Paris! I am headed to Paris for 2 weeks this month. I am really hoping that the flea markets are as great as I have heard. I am getting packed and really excited too. So here are some of my favorite May scenes:
